I am millstone, pure flour ground.
Far from alarm and traffic sounds.
Uncluttered by fleeting fads of the sprawl.
And I don’t care for them at all.
All the innocents they drive me to distraction -
self-elected blameless Gods of all.
Quick-fix, unelaborated, give me a summary,
just give me the Bullet Points.
So self-congratulated.
even amongst Thumpermonkey (Lives?)'s uncanny valley discography, Alpha Romeo and Pigheart stand out as strange. A whirlwind of electronics and lo-fi programmed synths, distorted Woodman vocals, and rapidly shifting, neurotic hooks, the later progressive leanings are here in an even less sterotypical reading of what being progressive is. And yet they are undeniably precursors to later albums. These tracks are all fantastic, gritty versions of Thumpermonkey circa early oughts digitalization. aotihav
